Dreien Opportunity Partners: project leaders for Collin Creek Mall development
Dreien Opportunity Partners is is the redeveloper behind the project, led by CEO Sam Ware. Ware acquired about half of the 100 acres he is eyeing at Collin Creek Mall, leaving him four more parcels left to purchase. Dreien is the developer of The Campus at Legacy West and Parkland Hospital.
The current 93-acre site has Sears, JC Penney and Amazing Jake’s Food & Fun as its anchor stores. The mall has more than 50 empty storefronts. Dreien wants to acquire an additional six acres on adjacent parcels and would like a major corporate tenant in order to begin redevelopment. In the short-term, Ware plans to bring in temporary tenants and will also make some operational changes to the mall befor redevelopment begins. The Dallas-based Gateway Planning is designing the master plan, which could possibly include a bike trail system and connection with Richardson’s CityLine.
