JCA Realtors: Courtney, thank you for agreeing to do this interview. Can you start by giving us a little bit of background about yourself?
Courtney Benson: I am a proud Texas transplant who set down roots here in North Texas 13 years ago. I was born in California, played college basketball and am a graduate from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. I currently live in McKinney with my husband Gabriel, who is a magazine publisher, and my two children Sawyer (7) and Finley (5)
JCA Realtors: It’s been reported that at least 98% of Real Estate Agents did not start out as such, what was your previous career?
Courtney Benson: At the age of 22, I became an account executive for a major cosmetic company, where I moved up through the ranks to become a regional sales manager and product developer for Estee Lauder brands. After having children, it was tough to travel so I focused on my love for home design and staging by starting my own business. Eventually, I decided to blend my passion for design, helping families, business, and negotiation – so becoming a realtor was a natural fit.
JCA Realtors: We would have to agree with that! What would you say is the most gratifying part of your job?
Courtney Benson: There is no question that for me, it is handing people their keys and sharing in my clients’ dreams about what the future will hold with their new home.
JCA Realtors: Now you know that we all, of course, have them, but what is your most embarrassing moment in real estate so far?
Courtney Benson: I was looking at a model home and my shoe slipped and I ended up ankle deep in fresh sidewalk concrete. I had to hobble over to the hose at the side of the house and rinse off my feet.
JCA Realtors: What would you consider as your shining moment of 2015?
Courtney Benson: My best moment was beating out 17 offers on a home that was my clients dream home . My client’s didn’t even have the highest offer, but I was ale to make a sincere connection with the seller, that allowed me to plead my client’s case as to why my client’s were the perfect buyer for her home. I loved making that sale and making that connection.
JCA Realtors: Seriously have goosebumps from that story! What would you like to see for yourself in the new year?
Courtney Benson: I would like to continue to help families find their dream homes, and help them navigate the complex and emotional process of buying and selling real estate
JCA Realtors: Lastly, is there anything else you would like to add?
Courtney Benson: I don’t think so. I know you will make me sound fab!
