There is always something going on in Collin County, it’s such a fantastic and youthful place to live.  This weekend is no exception as the 14th Annual Krewe of Barkus Dog Parade and Costume Contest comes to Downtown McKinney this Sunday at 2p, at Mitchell Park.  This year the them is “Barkus Does Books-A Salute to Your Favorite Characters in Literature”.  Festivities will begin at 12:30p, and will include vendor booths, interactive activities, food and music, and more.

The event has been patterned after the original Mystic Krewe of Barkus in New Orleans, which was established to help abused and abandoned canines. The Costume Contest had nearly 250 entries last year, and promises more than $2000 in prizes this year to the winners.  You can find more information about the event, including parking information and volunteer opportunities. here, or call 972-547-2660.
